PS Ruby Fotherby Park is a paddle steamer that has been lovingly restored to her former glory. Built in Morgan, South Australia in 1907, it was the fourth paddle steamer to be called Ruby, she transported passengers and cargo between Echuca, Mildura, Wentworth and Goolwa. After a long and busy life Ruby slowly fell into disrepair, ending her days as a houseboat at Mildura. It was purchased by the Rotary Club of Wentworth in 1968 and was dry docked in Fotherby Park, as a reminder of the riverboat era. In 1995 the Rotary Club realised the need for major restoration on the hull so handed ownership to the Wentworth community, in the trusteeship of the Wentworth Shire Council. PS Ruby was re-commissioned in July 2004. In 2004 the Restoration Committee received a NSW State Award for Heritage Restoration! Open to come on board for guided and self-guided tours. Tours include a fascinating glimpse into the past, where you will learn about the importance of the early riverboats and their huge contribution to outback Australia. Get behind the biggest wheel on the river, for a memorable souvenir photo, posing as the Captain.Kalgoorlie Accommodation welcomes PS Ruby Fotherby Park in Wentworth NSW, we offer an experience that takes you on a journey of a life time in Wentworth.
